World Bank President Robert Zoellick discusses the future of the organization Wednesday at the InterAction Forum in Arlington, Virginia. Zoellick, nominated to the World Bank by President George W. Bush in 2007, will conclude his five-year term as president this year. Following the World Bank president, representatives from the IMF, Amnesty International and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will talk about how world institutions like the World Bank and United Nations are evolving.
President Obama nominated Jim Yong Kim, the president of Dartmouth College, to take over for Zoellick. He was elected by the World Bank in April. Traditionally, the World Bank has followed the recommendation of the U.S. President, but in recent years, emerging economies have sought a larger voice.
This event is part of InterAction’s Annual Forum. According to its website, “InterAction is the largest alliance of U.S.-based international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs), with more than 190 members working in every developing country. Members are faith-based and secular, large and small, with a focus on the world’s most poor and vulnerable populations.”

Rimanendo in tema “globalizzazione”, vi segnalo la Presentazione del volume di Sabino Cassese: “The global polity. Global dimensions of Democracy and the Rule of Law” postata oggi su Radio Radicale, e un documento del 2007 dal seducente titolo: “PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND DEMOCRATIC GOVERNANCE: Governments Serving Citizens, organizzato dal “7th Global Forum on Reinventing Government Building Trust in Government“.
Di seguito un intervento di Zoellick del 2011;
