La riforma dell’immigrazione in America e’ uno dei punti caldi su cui il presidente Obama si giochera’ la rielezione. Il supporto della comunita’ latino-americana rischia di vacillare a causa del mancato passaggio del Dream Act e il concetto e’ stato piu’ volte sottolineato da alcuni deputati del suo partito, Gutierrez in testa, che minacciano di non supportarne la rielezione.
Per capire bene che aria tira e quanto effettivamente e’ compromesso per aggiustare la sua strategia politica, Obama ha tenuto un meeting a porte chiuse a Washington lo scorso martedi’ 19 aprile con i rappresentanti di gruppi religiosi, forze di polizia, avvocati per i diritti civili, associazioni imprenditoriali ed altre personalita’;

Bloomberg in seguito ai risultati del censo del 2010, ha detto di essersi “accorto” del perche’ nelle casse di New York “i conti non tornano” (New York e’ vicina a dichiarare la bancarotta, come avvenne negli anni ’70 quando il Governo fu costretto a “salvare” la citta’ con fondi governativi) ed ha preso “atto” della presenza di alcuni milioni di clandestini che vivono in citta’ usufruendo gratuitamente delle speciali leggi che tutelano gli immigrati clandestini senza contribuire tramite il pagamento delle tasse, alle casse dello stato di NY. Per l’immigrato clandestino e’ possibile evadere il fisco perche’ non avendo un “visto di lavoro” ne’ la residenza permanente e non essendo quindi iscritto nel database dell’ufficio delle imposte (IRS), sfugge ai controlli del fisco. Per esperienza personale vi dico che la prima cosa che il fisco americano fa non appena viene notificato dall’ufficio immigrazione della presenza di un nuovo residente o di un lavoratore straniero, e’ quella di inviare una lattera con il codice personale da usare per pagare le tasse!

Come dicevo in altri post, per il partito Democratico l’appoggio di attori e cantanti e’ fondamentale per conquistare la larga fascia dell’elettorato “medio”, cioe’ poco informato, tele-dipendente e imbevuto di ideologie liberal, quindi non c’e’ da stupirsi se Obama si fa vedere spesso in loro compagnia. Ad esempio il presidente conta molto sull’appoggio di Beyonce “Sure, she can dance. But can Beyonce move Obama’s youth vote to the polls?” si chiedeva due giorni fa il Washington Post.
Oggi la ABC si chiede “Why Are Eva Longoria and Rosario Dawson at the White House? Closed-Door Meetings to Build Support for Immigration Reform”. Il 28 aprile infatti il presidente ha fatto il bis con una cena di beneficenza per la raccolta fondi della sua campagna elettorale cui hanno partecipato stavolta circa 60 personalita’ del mondo dei media e dello spettacolo ispano-americano fra cui;

Ebbene per ben 2 anni consecutivi, nel 2010 e nel 2011 in diretta da Times Square qui a New York ha incitato, in lingua spagnola, la comunita’ ispano-americana di New York dicendo loro di “resistere perche’ le statistiche dicono che nel 2050 saremo piu’ di 50 milioni e procederemo con le riforme che ci stanno a cuore!“. The 2010 census will show that over 50 million Hispanics now live in the United States, making it one of the biggest Hispanic countries in the world. I would never have believed 20 years ago that a Hispanic would one day be sitting on the Supreme Court of the United States. The only Puerto Rican most people knew was the super of their building, or Rita Moreno. Now Sonia Sotomayor is a household name. All we need now is for Sotomayor to host Saturday Night Live. Then we’ll have truly arrived. Had you asked Rush Limbaugh a few years ago if an African American with a name like Barack Hussein Obama could make it into the White House, he would have bet his prescription drugs against it. You don’t need me to tell you who won that bet. So as we advance into 2010, Lou Dobbs (Dobbs e’ un ex anchorman della CNN famoso per le sue posizioni ostili sia verso gli immigrati clandestini che le corporations che li sfruttano e la folle politica americana sulle delocalizzazioni), take a moment to reflect.

By the way Lou, sit down any weekday between 6 and 10 pm and watch a telenovela (soap opera) and maybe you would become more passionate about Hispanics in a positive way.

Tornando al meeting, Maria Elena Salinas presentatrice della Univision, ha chiesto al presidente se fara’ o meno la benedetta riforma sull’immigrazione ed ha ricevuto una risposta non esattamente rassicurante;
